Variation
The chromosome count of the Red wolf is 78, the red wolf went to a decrease of genetic diversity to a point of extinction. The red wolf had lived in the central parts of the U.S but went down to the southeastern part. The red wolf was being hunted by humans to a point of extinction. But the remaining amount that was 14 were breed to repopulate. Some of the red wolves were let free into the Alligator Wildlife refuge in North Carolina. The Red wolf reproduces sexually when it find his soul mate. Both of the partners take care of their offsprings. The litter of pups is about 2-8 pups. The pups then starts to leave the den at the age of 6 weeks. After two years they are sexually mature. Their mating seasons is late winter. Some of the red wolves used to be hybrids of red wolves and coyotes. The red wolf has been to a point of extinction, but an organization captured the remaining and bred them, they adapted to their new environment in North carolina and they only tend to hunt alone or with their partner.
Selection
Physical Environment- It lives in North Carolina in a 1.7 million acres of land. Red wolves have utilized habitat types ranging from agricultural lands to forest and wetland. The reproduction of the Organization that was trying to help them thrive again, saw that only 17 of the 43 red wolves caught were actually real red wolves, while the others were hybrids. But 3 of them could not breed, so that left 14 to breed. So the population that exists today only comes form those 14 red wolf ancestors.
Biological Environment- The red wolves relationships with other animals vary. It's a predator so it does not need to worry about getting hunted from other predators. but it is a prey to humans and tends to stay away from humans. it can coexist with other animals like gray wolves and coyotes.

Time
Before- European settlers The Cherokee respected the red wolf because because of the reddish color it had. For the tribe that meant war. So they avoided killing the red wolves because they believed that would bring vengeance of the killed animals pack mates. Europeans then came and started to classify them. Time went one and by the 1930’s the red wolves had completely disappeared from the lower sonoran zone. They redwolves had completely been hunted by men. And by the 1970’s less than 50 were still alive. And by the 1980's the Red wolf was extinct in the wild.
Today- Organizations had started to help save animals, one of the species was the red wolf. They captured all the red wolves they could find. They found 43 of what they thought were red wolves, but then they saw most of the pups and some of the parents were hybrids. Of those 43 only 17 were considered pure red wolves. But three of them could no breed so only 14 are the ancestors of all the red wolves today. The red wolves have adapted to their environment in the captivity program and the wild in their new home in North Carolina
Future- I think they were at a point of extinction because of the human hunting. But if we leave them alone but still help them from far away like we are doing today, their population could grow bigger even if some the litters might be hybrids. I think this because so far the red wolves are doing a great job of getting back into their life routine. The red wolves though need more prey so that they don't start to leave The refuge.
